I think that in a few years, we will replace the keyboard with a touch screen(once the technology improves). This would make a laptop in theory more like a DS which could provide a world of opportunities for program design, game design, and unique user interface.

I think that there will very soon be a takeover of everything by flash memory. People will stop using SATA hard drives and other hard drives and will begin to use flash memory, as it takes little space, and creates no heat. It will become very affordable and will be used by nearly everyone. This could even include replacing the CD/Blu-Ray with all information stored on flash drives just big enough to store the program or information stored on it.
Another huge breakthrough could be the “coffee table computer”. This is a computer that was released by dell that is a coffee table with a large touchscreen glass section. It looks like a regular coffee table with regular glass until you turn it on. It is a huge screen with a huge price tag, this could be a later replacement for the desktop computer.
Yet another thing is either the TV replacing the computer or the computer replacing the TV. Either way it will be a hybrid. You could either have a TV that has a built in computer system, or a computer with a television tuner, either way you’re basically getting the same thing.
And my final, there will always be new programming languages being thrown around. I think that quite soon we will have yet another that will have much more to offer than Visual Basic, C++, CSS, and could probably replace HTML online. It could really be up in the air on this one, but I think that a new language, with many new possibilities, will be here very soon.

That won’t happen until they figure out how to make touchscreens as responsive as actual keyboards. Not to mention I think I’d prefer a keyboard anyway. The big thing recently is SSD hard drives. ATI and AMD are working on that Spider thing, that apparently combines a CPU and a graphics card. I think the thing to watch for though, is internet speed increases, and ease of accessing the internet.
