Can Someone Help Me Solve A Problem Involving Graphic/video Cards And Computers?

Ok I bought this video card (Galaxy – NVIDIA GeForce 210 DDR2 PCI Express Graphics Card ) and i have a gateway gm5684e. I’m sure i have it in the right slot but then there’s this cord that was attached to my old video card that won’t attach to my new video card. Whenever i try to turn on my computer, the graphics won’t turn on when i have my new one installed. Can someone help me figure out this issue?

  1. Check you bios settings for video choose, PCI rather than on-board. ( Unless the cord you are talking about is the monitor cord, in which case return both the computer and the video card to the vendor and tell them we said you weren’t allowed to have a computer) If not, tell us what kind of cord it is.

  2. I think you might have to uninstall your old video card drivers, in control panel, add/ remove programs, (it will go into VGA mode until you install your card) After removing driver, turn off your computer, remove the old card, install the new one, turn on your computer, it will still be in VGA mode, insert your new Video card disc (cd), and install the drivers. Restart your computer.
    See if that helps.
The cord you are talking about? I am not sure. Maybe it was extra power supply.
There might be something in the bios to change your Video. But usually, this is if you have integrated and want to install a card, you need to set up the bios for the card. Also, make sure the setup choice is PCI-E and not PCI.
    Hope this helps.

  3. You did move your monitor cables to the new card didn’t you? Also, this new card may need additional power and you haven’t found the right connector. It will tell you that in the installation instructions for the new card.
