How Do I Setup My Router So That Other Computers That Try To Join My Network Gets Linked To A Page?

I noticed this in coffee shops. When you try to connect to their wlan, you get redirected to a page where you have to place a username and a password. We have a WEP passcode but I want something else.

  1. You need a router that is specifically designed for doing this, and they can be quite expensive.
You could also do it using a computer and an access point but im not so sure whether the software is free/opensource or only available as something you pay for.
I have heard that there is an open source development of some firmware that does this for a Linksys WRT54G router, but you will need to go buy one of these from ebay, as i think the model/version number needed is quite specific.
Edit: Ive dug out some info on the WRT54G firmware for you, which might be your best option. You would basically be setting up a small RADIUS server to manage access to a hotspot. But do google around some more, theres a lot of information on utilzing this router for this exact purpose.http://www.wi-fiplanet.com/tutorials/art…http://www.wirelessforums.org/alt-intern…http://oriolrius.cat/blogcms/?item=secur…http://www.wi-fiplanet.com/tutorials/art…http://www.netstumbler.org/f51/how-set-u…
