The Best Camera For Everything Photography – Digital?
I am looking around for a camera that is going to work well as a present for my dad. He’s really into being outside in the wilderness and stuff. Needless to say, I need a camera built like a tank. I also need it to be one of the best compact digital cameras I can get (finest picture quality). He is a bit of a perfectionist, so it really does have to take amazing pictures. I don’t care about price right now – I just am gathering Data at the moment.
What is the best you all can think of?

If you’re looking for small and compact I would suggest looking at the models Olympus makes – they’re waterproof and shock proof. However, the problem with any compact digital camera is that they don’t take great pictures. Therefore you may want to consider something like Canon Powershot G9 or even a digital SLR (Canon XSi or 40D).
If you want the best digital camera for photography, you need to spend a couple grand. Might I suggest the Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III? It’s considered by many pros the best digital camera available. It has 21 megapixels. It’s built like a tank, with weather proofing and solid outer casing. The camera body alone costs $8000. And you wouldn’t want to mate the body with a crappy lens, so might I suggest the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS or the Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L lens? These retail at about $1500 each. Overall the system should go for around $10,000.
It’s a dream system though, and since you mentioned price is not an option, this would be the first camera you should seriously look at. Hey like they say, love is priceless. If you get this for your dad, he’ll be sooo happy, I guarantee it!
Get a Sony Cybershot. They are small and quick to use. I have one and I love the software it comes with
