Hello.
I would like to get some help regarding the connection of three computers. I want to connect three computers using a hub. I have a netgear hub. And have three straight cables. I just want to know how to connect them.
And one more thing, I dont want to use it for internet connection. I just want to know how to connect them without internet. I would be thankful if somebody helps me out in this issue.
Thanks a lot in advance.

  1. If you are wanting to ‘connect’ them without internet, then do you want to be able to network them? I’m not sure what you are asking.
If so, then you need to have them in the same workgroup. Netbios protocol installed. Grant share permissions.

  2. The easy answer is you run a cable from each ethernet port on the machine to the hub. Now they are all “connected”. That being said, you should probably say what it is you want to do.
The problem is that you might have to configure the TCP/IP parameters in the computers in order for them to talk to each other using that protocol. If you are using NETBIOS, then that is a different story and might require different configuration. Even if you don’t use it for Internet connection, if the computers do connect to the Internet and you happen to use the ethernet connection for that and you plan on just unplugging it from the hub and do that, then you are going to have another problem with that.
If you plan on doing file sharing, then you have to configure that on the computer as well.
So what it is you want to do is relevent.

  3. First connect them using ethernet cables.
Then on TCP/IP set up on network properties, give them address of 192.168.0.1, 192.168.02, 192.168.0.3 And network mask of 255.255.255.0
Then they should be able to see each other. You can access each other by their computer names or by their ip addresses.
