We are dropping our home phone service in favor of DSL which will cost about $40 per month and we have three computers hooked up to a wired router. The DSL will be wired as well.
With dial-up, we can only use one computer at a time, but I don’t know how it works with DSL or home cable. My library has about 20 computers hooked up to a special kind of cable.
Thanks for your help.

Yes you can. You will need a router. The router connects to the DSL modem. Each computer will then connect to the router.

As long as your ISP doesn’t prevent it, sure. You get a modem/router with enough ports and run cables to all the machines. Or you add a wireless router and wireless adapters to the machines, and everyone uses the same connection, including your neighbors if you don’t secure the connection.

Yes you can hook as many computer as you wish to a DSL/Cable connection via router. You can use hardwired or use wireless . Wireless would be the easiest but more expensive. You can pick up a good wireless router for around $35-$100 depending on what you are using it for and the wireless cards or USB wireless connnections for each computer for around $25-$80 each. I would hard wire the main computer where the DSL and router are and wireless connect the others in the house. I have it that way but I hardwired my whole house with 2 ethernet jacks in each room and have a wireless network setup also. My computer workshop in the backyard is over 100ft from the house and I get 5 bars and excellent strength via a wireless booster. But it just depends on how much you are willing to spend…Thanks

yea u can. on at&ts dsl service you can have a small home network which would be up to 10 pc’s you can purch w/ built in router from them or just get the modem and hook it up to your existing router. you cant order the “dry loop dsl” which doesnt require a phone line over the internet. u’ll need to call 1877uaskatt for availability in ur area. if you decide to go with at&t , use referral code mp4341

You will need a dsl modem/router, this can handle much more than you need.
