I am looking for some ideas of stuff I can include in an informative speech on computers in general for my college communications class. I know it’s a broad topic, but I am spilling out my life story, and since I’m a nerd, it’s pretty much all computers. Surprisingly, I am having a tough time brainstorming ideas for little tidbits of stuff I can include. If anyone can just chime in on even a small aspect that might add some meat to my speech, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for everyone’s help!

Why not compare YOUR LIFE to that of YOUR COMPUTER?
Mention how “Your life before assembly” compares to the pile of outdated miscellaneous electronic components behind your local Radio Shack store.
During the assembly-stage (your teens) explain how the components began JAMMING together %Macintosh vs. Windows formats / Data vs. Machine languages.
In the end (your closing) SHOW how each combines to result with………. YOU!

The binary code consists of only two digits and all computers work this system , however it has long been realized that it is perfectly feasible to rewrite the binary code using 3 or more digits increasing the processing power of computers infinitely . The trouble is although it can be done it would render all of today’s computers useless because they could not read the code . So computer technology has in fact become a victim of its own success it cannot move on to the next level without effectively being destroyed first .

Hm. Maybe talk about the differences between Macs and PCs? Most people will know the stuff on the commercials, but really break it down to the simplest format.
My college comm professor this past semester gave me great advice — talk like you are talking to 6 year olds, and you’ll get your message across!
Hope this helps
